Study in Europe
A regional guide to strong public universities, varied tuition models and multilingual cultures.
Education system basics
Europe is not a single admissions or visa system. Each country and university sets its own entry, tuition, language and immigration rules. The Bologna framework makes bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral cycles broadly comparable across much of the region, while English-taught programmes are increasingly available.
How the system works
Most participating systems follow three cycles: bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate, measured through ECTS credits. However, admission, fees, residence permits and work rights remain national matters. Always use the chosen country’s official portal.
Possibilities for international students
- Public universities in some countries offer comparatively low tuition
- Large selection of English-taught master’s and doctoral programmes
- Erasmus-linked mobility and cross-border research networks
- Distinct options across Germany, France, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, Malta, Estonia and more
Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD admission basics
Bachelor’s
Select the country first, then verify whether Bangladeshi HSC is accepted for direct entry or requires a foundation/preparatory year. Prepare certified academic records, English or local-language evidence, passport and programme-specific documents. Application portals vary by country.
Master’s
A relevant recognised bachelor’s degree and sufficient subject credits are central. Universities may request transcripts, course descriptions, motivation letter, CV, references, portfolio or test scores. Check whether documents need legalisation or certified translations.
PhD / research
Find a funded doctoral vacancy or propose an individual research project, depending on the country. Supervisor fit, research proposal, master’s-level preparation, references, publications and funding plan are commonly assessed.
Top 10 universities
Ordered by QS World University Rankings 2027 global position. Rankings are a useful comparison signal, but programme fit, accreditation, cost, location, funding and graduate outcomes should drive the final shortlist.
