Study in Australia

High-quality universities, practical learning and clear university-to-visa sequencing.

The essentials

Education system basics

Australia’s higher-education system includes bachelor’s degrees, honours, graduate certificates and diplomas, taught master’s, research master’s and doctorates. International students apply directly to providers or through an authorised education agent, receive an offer, accept it and obtain a Confirmation of Enrolment before the student-visa stage.

How the system works

The Australian Qualifications Framework links vocational and higher-education levels. Universities and other registered providers set entry rules. Undergraduate study is commonly three years, with honours or professional programmes longer; master’s commonly takes one to two years.

Possibilities for international students

  • Wide choice of professionally accredited and research-intensive programmes
  • February and July are common university intakes, with course-level variation
  • Pathway and foundation options for students needing academic preparation
  • Research degrees may offer competitive scholarships and flexible start dates

Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD admission basics

Bachelor’s

Check whether HSC or another credential meets the course’s Year 12 equivalency and prerequisites. Prepare transcripts, passport, English evidence and any portfolio or subject tests. A foundation or diploma pathway may be appropriate where direct entry is unavailable.

Master’s

A recognised bachelor’s degree is normally required. Course fit, grades, English evidence and sometimes work experience, CV, portfolio or GMAT/GRE are assessed. Apply to the provider and meet all conditions before accepting the offer.

PhD / research

Develop a research proposal and contact a suitable supervisor or graduate research school. Submit academic records, research experience, publications if any, CV, English evidence and referee reports. Scholarship and admission rounds may be separate.

Important: Every university assesses Bangladeshi qualifications differently. Programme entry, English scores, deposit rules, scholarships and immigration requirements must be checked against the official institution and government pages for the intended intake.
