Study in Asia

A diverse region with globally ranked universities, major scholarship routes and fast-growing research hubs.

The essentials

Education system basics

Asia includes many separate education and immigration systems. Programme language, academic calendar, centralised admissions, scholarships and visa processes differ across Japan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and other destinations. English-taught options are strongest at selected universities and graduate levels.

How the system works

Degree structures vary, but four-year bachelor’s degrees are common in several major destinations; master’s often takes one to two years and doctorates three to five years. National rules—not a regional standard—govern admissions and visas.

Possibilities for international students

  • Globally ranked universities in Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Japan and South Korea
  • Government scholarships such as MEXT, GKS and selected national schemes
  • Growing English-taught programme portfolios
  • Strong technology, engineering, business and research ecosystems
Bangladesh applicant roadmap

Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD admission basics

Bachelor’s

Check the destination’s secondary-school equivalency and whether entrance examinations, interviews or local-language ability apply. Prepare SSC/HSC records, passport, English-language evidence, recommendations and financial evidence. Government-scholarship applications may use embassy or university tracks.

Master’s

A relevant bachelor’s degree, strong academic record, statement, CV, references and language evidence are typical. Research-oriented programmes may require a proposal or supervisor contact; professional programmes may request experience or tests.

PhD / research

Target a department and supervisor whose research aligns with yours. Prepare a substantial proposal, master’s records, research CV, references, publications and funding strategy. Many scholarships have annual windows well before the programme starts.

Important: Every university assesses Bangladeshi qualifications differently. Programme entry, English scores, deposit rules, scholarships and immigration requirements must be checked against the official institution and government pages for the intended intake.
